Program Coordinator

Birchwood seeks a part-time, year-round Program Coordinator to support our growing camp through program delivery for Birchwood’s year-round operational setting, and serving a broad and diverse population. Utilizing the camp’s traditional activities to deliver team building, challenge course facilitation, recreation, and environmental education programs, we teach 21st century skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.  The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors degree in Recreation or related subject, and prior experience delivering program content in a camp setting.  The candidate must be comfortable in an outdoor setting and familiar with outdoor recreation, team building facilitation, and natural sciences.  The candidate will plan and lead outdoor programs to groups of students, adults, and families; assist with curriculum development and planning; maintain specialized program equipment; assist with special programs and events.  The candidate will report to and assist the Director in the development and delivery of camp sessions, programs, and staff training.  The candidate will be responsible for leading camp interns/seasonal staff and assisting with year-round weekend retreats / groups, and the operation of summer camp sessions. Birchwood Camp’s schedule varies with weekday, weekend, evening, and some overnight/on-call work is required. Salary DOE with base rate of $13/hour. Program Coordinator

Property Specialist

Birchwood seeks a part-time, year-round Property Specialist to support our growing camp through proper maintenance, security and protection of camp property, thereby ensuring the best possible health and safety conditions for the campers and groups for Birchwood’s year-round operational setting, and serving a broad and diverse population. The Property Specialist ensures that the camp complies with all American Camping Association guidelines and standards for building and grounds, as well as monitoring and overseeing compliance with all local, State and Federal codes for health and safety regulations.  The candidate will be responsible for opening, closing and inspecting camp facilities based on the user groups scheduled; and maintains safety and security of such facilities.  The ideal candidate will hold a High School Diploma or GED, and prior experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, painting, masonry, routine maintenance, general repairs, and operation of tractors and motorized equipment.  The ideal candidate will have previously successfully developed and/or managed construction or property-related projects.  The candidate will report to the camp Director.  The candidate will possess a current Alaska Driver’s License, in good standing.be available to work a varied schedule, with weekday, weekend, evening, and overnight/on-call work expected. Salary DOE with base of $13/hour. PROPERTY SPECIALIST

Guest Services Coordinator

Birchwood seeks a part-time, year-round Guest Services Coordinator to support our growing camp through guest reservations and services coordination for Birchwood’s year-round operational setting, serving a broad and diverse population. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors degree in Recreation Administration, Business or a related field, and prior experience in a camp setting.  The candidate must be comfortable in an outdoor setting and familiar with outdoor recreation, team building facilitation, and natural sciences. The candidate will assist with marketing and public awareness; guest scheduling; serve as guest liaison with the camp administration; assist with special programs and events’ and “host” guests, as needed.  The candidate will report to and assist the Director in the development and delivery of guest services. The candidate will be responsible for assisting with year-round weekend retreats / groups, operation of summer camp sessions, including working a varied schedule with weekday, weekend, evening, and overnight/on-call work required. Salary DOE with base of $13/hour.
