Summer Program Specialist
The Program Specialist will work with the Camp Director to divide essential duties for the day to day operation of Camp and oversee camp staff throughout each day. The program specialist will work with the Program Coordinator to communicate with Camp Deans, Facilities staff, nurses, and chaplains to ensure camp runs smoothly. The Program Specialist will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of wilderness and travel programming.
Internships
Summer Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator will work with the Executive Director, Summer Program Specialist, Camp Deans and Chaplains to coordinate the programs and activities of each Birchwood Camp session. This role oversees all set-up and break-down of activities and acts as point person when the director team is otherwise engaged. The Program Coordinator helps the director team oversee Counselors in Training. The Program Coordinator serves as a Main Camp support and communication person during wilderness camps.
Music and Worship Intern
The Music and Worship Intern will be an integral part of the faith expression at Birchwood Camp. The MWI will collaborate with Camp Deans and Chaplains to plan and musically lead worship services during camp sessions. The MWI will help to provide welcoming and spirit-filled opportunities for the Birchwood Community to encounter Christ through whole group, small group, and private worship.
Activities Director Intern
The Activities Director will support all activities that happen at camp including serving as the Waterfront Director, assisting with wilderness camps, and facilitating safe camper engagement. The Activities Director must have an active lifeguard certification, Red Cross Training Preferred. It is preferred that the Activities Director has training and experience in archery, low ropes courses, and team building.
Behavioral Support Intern
The Behavioral Support Intern will be responsible for assisting the Camp Deans, Program Specialist, and Camp Nurse with the implementation of camper support plans for those who need extra assistance. This includes but is not limited to assisting campers with severe homesickness, behavioral concerns, neurodivergency, anxiety, and any other needs. The BSI will directly support campers, track incidences and interventions, and communicate camper needs to the appropriate staff.
Summer Program Staff
Birchwood Camp summer program staff ensure the well-being of each camper in their cabin, including spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. These staff members have a distinct and lasting impact on their campers and should cultivate a positive culture for Birchwood and be a strong role model for campers.
